Coupled transformation
The coupled-transformation model follows a participant's situation, an object's material and relational state, an encounter, the resulting recognized relationship. The proposed expression is (S_t, O_t, E_t) -> (S_next, O_next, R_next). Here S describes a person's situated condition, O the object's condition and relations, E the encounter, R a recognized or recorded relation afterward.
A visitor repairs a permitted mechanism. They acquire practical knowledge, the camera changes condition, the custodian receives an attributed account. Another encounter may change only interpretation or permission. Staff specify the observed changes rather than inferring transformation from the model's notation alone.
The formulation provides a way to organize records and research questions. Researchers need an operational definition for each examined change, a record of earlier state, an account of context. They can ask whether a newly shared description supports a later activity or whether a participant revises an account across visits. The conservation inquiry asks a different question concerning correspondence or invariance. Both can be examined through the same documented encounters.
