Information design during the first event
Organizers invite the interviewed participants to a Housewarming in a home assembled from contributed possessions. The social story gives guests an understandable reason to enter, look around, use material, converse. Organizers can preserve parts of the curatorial purpose for a later explanation while arranging the actual recording and participation terms separately.
The account follows the guest's knowledge through time. Before arrival, the guest receives an invitation and selected project context. During the evening, they encounter the space, other guests, ordinary activities, possible planned interventions. At departure or afterward, they can receive an interpretation, designed encounter, explanation of earlier conditions. Researchers record the information actually supplied at each stage.
| Information area | Design decision |
|---|---|
| Social invitation | Explain a Housewarming, salon, shared meal, another plausible activity. |
| Material context | Decide the supplied history and visibility of custodial identities. |
| Recording | Describe the actual capture arrangement and available participation choices. |
| Curatorial purpose | Decide the timing of explanation about profiling, interpretation, possible encounters. |
| Particular intervention | Specify a task, demonstration, reveal, invitation within the evening. |
| Subsequent explanation | Decide the content and timing of departure gifts or later communication. |
The Housewarming can function as a loose cover for broader curatorial work while providing a substantive social occasion. Researchers examine the guests' actual assumptions, including recognition, prior knowledge, speculation. Disclosure timing, information differences, visible instruments develop the mechanisms and alternatives.
