Host and curator observations

A host or curator can record a situation, an offer, an action, an interpretation during or after an occasion. Their position affects the available information. Staff attribute the observation, distinguish recollection, identify relevant involvement in the event.

The host may arrange a discussion and interpret silence as discomfort. Participants later describe comfortable concentration. The revised institutional account can preserve both the initial reading and the later explanation where appropriate. A host's intervention may also change the activity being observed.

Field notes can retain practical context absent from sensors: a guest waiting for a friend, an unavailable tool, an earlier conversation. Event descriptions, attribution, critical review explain the use of these observations. Researchers compare their contribution with other sources through the added-observation experiment.
