Attribution of accounts

Staff identify the person, source, or software responsible for each relevant statement. They retain context, time, evidence, access, uncertainty. An observation, a recollection, a reconstruction, an interpretation, a fictional account receive different descriptions.

The custodian may remember the camera arriving from a relative. An examiner observes a modified lever. A visitor proposes a repair date. A model drafts an imagined first-person story. A reviewer checks the proposed historical claim. Staff retain those differences when preparing a public description or invitation.

Attribution supports correction without treating the entire history as one authoritative narrative. A claim can be revised, disputed, made private, retained as a superseded account where appropriate. Disputed accounts, evidence links, narration modes explain the related operations. Staff assess a particular statement's basis rather than assigning confidence to an entire person.
