Similarity
Staff identify a shared interest, reference, experience, practice, interpretation and ask whether it supplies a reason for a particular encounter. They examine the actual contribution and context rather than stopping at a broad category.
Two visitors may cite the same photographer in separate annotations. A curator can invite them to compare selected images. They may agree on influence while interpreting the work differently. The shared reference provides an available subject, while the later conversation determines its usefulness.
Software can help retrieve similar passages through representations. Reviewers preserve the source and permission before preparing contact. Common influence develops the specific historical relation. Complementarity and contradiction offer alternatives when sameness contributes less to the intended activity.
