Complementarity

A participant's knowledge, skill, experience, resource, concern can contribute to another person's unfinished inquiry. Staff identify the particular need and the offered contribution, then examine a possible activity and reciprocal interest.

The camera's custodian has an unresolved modification question. A visitor demonstrates relevant mechanical knowledge and chooses to offer a reply. Staff can propose a bounded exchange before revealing unrelated personal material. A more abstract inquiry may benefit from another person's practical experience.

Complementarity can be asymmetric in the immediate contribution. Hosts therefore examine the benefit and willingness on each side rather than treating expertise as an obligation to help. Review, correspondence, authored activity specify the offer. The result may be an answer, a better question, a decision to stop.
