Object sensing

Staff can instrument selected possessions to detect physical changes associated with handling or operation. Identification tags provide a reference. Switches, accelerometers, load cells provide signals concerning opening, movement, orientation, weight. Staff select devices according to the actual object and inquiry.

A load change beneath a book can support a proposed lifting event. A switch can indicate operation of a compartment. An accelerometer can record movement requiring further interpretation. Staff need installation and testing to understand false detections, missed activity, effects of multiple people or objects. They preserve the raw basis where permitted and useful.

Object instrumentation can alter appearance, handling, care. Staff discuss attachment, reversibility, power, maintenance, permitted use at deposit. Identification, operation sensors, event extraction explain specific methods. A simple object measure may answer a particular question more clearly than an elaborate room reconstruction, subject to comparison.
