Return to the participant

Organizers can offer photographs, prints, an authored account, a passport address, a custody receipt, access to the house, news of later activity, proposed correspondence. These returns have different purposes. Staff identify the promised items before the visit or deposit and discuss later possibilities separately.

The photographer can provide a private print after the participant reviews publication choices. A registrar can provide a condition record and receipt after receiving custody. A curator can later send an approved account of a new use. An invitation to a recurring activity depends on the attendance arrangement. A future stranger's reply remains contingent on that person's participation.

The project can compare return arrangements during recruitment and subsequent review. A participant may value the portrait experience more than public display. Another may primarily seek care or a future user for an object. Staff record these expectations when examining later satisfaction and possible withdrawal. Departure and return alternatives develop combinations of these choices.
