Pseudonymity
A pseudonym is a contextual reference used in place of another identity description. Staff can associate selected events with it while keeping civil or contact information separately controlled. The participant's choices determine the intended continuity and audience.
A person may use a different reference for each object, keep a museum-wide credential, contribute during a single session. These arrangements reveal different relationships across events. A distinctive history, recognized voice, public photograph, repeated route can still permit identification even when the record lacks a name.
Administrators examine those links and the consequences of sharing them. Object indexing, temporary association, selected continuity provide alternatives. Staff describe the particular information withheld or linked rather than presenting pseudonymity as a complete guarantee of anonymity. Identity disclosure remains a separate decision during correspondence.
