Optional Unpacking
Unpacking is an optional activity before the Housewarming. Organizers invite a group to place the acquired possessions in a simulated move-in, document the placements, discuss the participants' explanations. The primary arrangement proceeds through organizer-led installation when this additional occasion is omitted.
Independent participants supply interpretations without the depositors' prior attachment. Possible groups include interviewed non-depositors, unfamiliar third parties, depositors, mixed participants. The independent group receives particular emphasis as a source of further accounts. Organizers record supplied information and any recognition before comparing placements.
The participants contribute explicitly through conversation and implicitly through arrangement. Staff photograph adjacency, containment, separation, practical use, then compare the placements with stated reasons. An action can reflect available light or space as well as a semantic association. Records, classification, annotation preserve the distinctions.
Organizers can retain the resulting arrangement, revise it for practical coherence, compare another group's interpretation. Exercises and research comparison develop alternatives. The resulting evidence concerns the particular participants, instructions, available collection.
